If you are traveling to Chicago for business, vacation, or to visit family, your trip can also be an opportunity to take a closer look at your health.

At Chicago Direct Primary Care located in Wicker Park neighborhood, we offer comprehensive health assessments for people who want to better understand their current health, identify important risk factors, and develop a personalized plan for staying healthy in the years ahead.

Whether you live in Chicago or are simply visiting, we can coordinate your evaluation in advance so that most or all of your testing can be completed during a single visit.

More Than a Routine Physical

A comprehensive health assessment goes beyond a traditional annual physical.

We start with a detailed review of your medical history, family history, medications and supplements, nutrition, exercise, sleep, and lifestyle. This is followed by a comprehensive physical examination and individualized testing based on your age, health history, family history, and goals.

Your assessment may include:

• Comprehensive blood testing

• Cholesterol and cardiovascular risk markers

• Blood sugar and metabolic health evaluation

• Assessment of risk factors for heart attack and stroke

• DEXA scanning for bone density and body composition

• VO2 max testing to assess cardiorespiratory fitness

• Fall and fracture risk

• Review of your personal and family cancer history and appropriate cancer screening

• Assessment of potentially modifiable risk factors associated with cognitive decline and dementia

• Grip strength testing

• Review of nutrition, exercise, sleep, and other lifestyle factors

Rather than looking at each result in isolation, we put the information together to develop a broader picture of your health and identify areas where prevention may have the greatest impact.

Complete Your Testing While You Are in Chicago

If you are coming from another city or state, our office can help coordinate your visit and testing before you arrive.

Plan on approximately three hours for a comprehensive assessment. In many cases, your blood work, DEXA scan, VO2 max testing, physician consultation, and physical examination can all be completed on the same day.

Our goal is to make the process as organized and efficient as possible so that you can obtain a detailed health assessment without spending multiple days going from one appointment to another.

Two Visits, Only One May Need to Be in Person

The initial comprehensive assessment is performed in person at our Chicago office.

Once your laboratory results and other testing are available, we schedule a second visit to review everything in detail. This follow-up can be completed by video, so you may not need to remain in Chicago while waiting for your results.

During the follow-up, we review what the testing shows, discuss areas of concern, and develop practical recommendations for prevention, lifestyle changes, additional evaluation, or treatment when appropriate.

You will also have your results and recommendations available to share with your regular primary care physician or other physicians involved in your care.

Optional Advanced Testing

For patients interested in additional testing, we can also discuss selected advanced tests based on age, family history, individual risk, and personal preferences.

Continued Access After Your Assessment

Your evaluation does not end when you leave Chicago.

Following your assessment, we provide one month of follow-up access so that you can ask additional questions as you review your results and recommendations.

Our goal is not simply to give you a collection of laboratory results. It is to help you understand what those results mean, which health risks deserve attention, and what practical steps you can take next.
